Frequently asked questions
Does Flinders Street Station have lockers?
Flinders Street Station, despite being Melbourne’s most iconic rail hub, does not have public luggage lockers, mainly due to its heritage building status and high commuter volume. For visitors hoping to explore Federation Square, NGV, or the laneways nearby, the best option is to store bags just outside the station. You can find Bounce locations around Degraves Street and St Paul’s Cathedral, allowing travelers to immerse themselves in the heart of Melbourne without luggage getting in the way.How do I get from Melbourne Airport to the city and where can I store my bags on the way?
From Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine), the SkyBus to Southern Cross Station is the fastest and most common option. For those arriving early or flying out late, Bounce offers strategically located luggage storage spots near SkyBus stops, including Docklands, Spencer Street, and even cafes in Collins Street’s legal quarter, which are popular among international students and digital nomads. Travelers often drop their bags, grab a flat white, and explore the city until check-in.What can I do at Melbourne Airport during a 5+ hour layover?
Melbourne Airport offers lounge access, decent dining, and local boutique shopping. But if you want to see the city, a 5-hour layover gives just enough time. Many happy Bounce customers store their carry-ons near Southern Cross Station, hop on the Free Tram Zone, and explore the State Library, Chinatown, or Carlton Gardens before heading back. Insider tip: Luggage-free, you can walk through the arcades and grab lunch at Queen Victoria Market without queuing with a suitcase.Where can backpackers find affordable luggage storage in Melbourne?
Melbourne is a backpacker hub, with hostels clustered around St Kilda, Fitzroy, and North Melbourne. But lockers at hostels are often limited or only available to guests. Bounce bridges that gap with low-cost, pay-per-day storage at local surf shops, venues, and even hostels where backpackers hang out.Is luggage storage helpful when exploring Melbourne’s laneways and trams?
Melbourne’s laneways are narrow, vibrant, and filled with street art, coffee windows, and boutique bars—but they’re not luggage-friendly. Combine that with the frequent hop-on-hop-off tram culture, and dragging bags around quickly becomes a burden. Locals and travelers use Bounce to store bags in hidden gems like local stores in the CBD.
