Few Major League Baseball teams have such an incredible record as the New York Yankees. This team has won the World Series a whopping 27 times. It's no wonder that New Yorkers and visitors to the city clamor to get sought-after tickets to a home game. And while you're in for a treat watching the New York Yankees play, there's also the fact you'll get to enjoy Yankee Stadium in the flesh.
The US$2.3 billion stadium opened in April 2009 and is located in the Bronx. Not only does Major League Baseball's New York Yankees call this stadium home, but so does Major League Soccer's New York City FC.
For history buffs, you may be interested to learn this isn't the original stadium that opened in 1923. The new stadium was built just one block to the north and was able to replicate many of the original features. So while it's still relatively new, there is a sense of history to the stadium.
So if you've scored tickets to an upcoming game, it's wise to be prepared and know the Yankee Stadium bag policy. We're here to provide you with all the key details before you head to the stadium gates.
For those visiting Yankee Stadium in New York City for the first time, it's got to be a thrilling feeling. The New York Yankees have an incredibly loyal and rather vocal fan following, so there's nothing like catching a game in person. The Yankee Stadium bag policy is not only strict, but it is quite in-depth so we're here to go over all the details with you.
The number one priority is safety at this stadium. Fans are allowed only stadium-compliant bags that are a maximum of 16" x 16" x 8". The mlb-compliant bag must be soft-sided, hard-sided bags aren't allowed. You can have one bag per person, plus an additional smaller soft-sided personal item. You can speak to security personnel prior to entry if you have questions. Be aware that you won't find any on-site storage area.
Guests arriving will need to check their ticket for gate information. The gate will be closest to your seat location. You'll walk through metal detector equipment, or a hand-held metal detector, just like any other major league stadium to enter the Yankee Stadium lobby. Yankee Stadium team members will then do a bag check at a screening table alongside the metal detectors.
We know that it can be pretty stressful to show up at the Yankee Stadium property only to find out that there are no luggage storage options. The bag policy is a Yankee stadium rule all guests need to follow and there is no flexibility. Not to worry, we've got you covered!
Luggage storage has never been easier, smoother, or more convenient thanks to our safe and secure temporary luggage storage. Your luggage will be in an area that is off-limits to the public and your booking includes $10,000 protection. Use our app to find a nearby location to temporarily store your luggage while you enjoy your event. The 24-hour flat rate means you don't have to keep looking at your watch.
Besides the Yankee Stadium bag policy, there are other prohibited items guests will want to know about including personal items.
Outside Food and Drink
When entering you are permitted to bring food and drink as long as it meets the rules. Clear factory-sealed plastic bottles, such as a water bottle that is no larger than one liter are allowed. Empty plastic sports bottles are also allowed. If you plan on bringing a thermos, aluminum bottles, or even glass baby bottles for your little one - you will need to use a small plastic container instead.
A small portion of food that is meant for only you can also be brought in. If you're bringing in fruit, it needs to be sectioned or sliced.
As part of the beverage policy, guests can purchase alcoholic beverages inside. If you want to drink alcohol, be sure to get your alcoholic beverage before the cut-off time. Alcoholic beverages are also served in the luxury and party suites to those who are of legal drinking age. Guests attempting to deliberately conceal alcohol will be denied entry.
Video Cameras and Extended Zoom Cameras
There is nothing wrong with snapping photos of the action, but extended-length zoom lenses aren't allowed. Other professional camera equipment is also prohibited under the Yankee Stadium guest code.
No Re-Entry Allowed
If you choose to leave Yankee Stadium, you won't be allowed back in.
Designated Smoking Areas
Yankee Stadium does not have designated areas for smoking.
Flags, Signs, and Banners
Yankee Stadium does allow flags, signs, and banners as long as it's not interfering with other guests and it's not offensive. Yankee Stadium management reserves the right to make the decision. Large metal objects, projectiles e.g flying discs, and laser pens could affect the safety of others.
If you have any additional questions you can always head to the guest relations booths to speak to a Yankee Stadium team member.
Stollers
Strollers are allowed at Yankee Stadium as long as they don't block the view for others. Fold-up strollers can be placed under your seat and out of the way.
Guest Relations Kiosks
Be sure to check out the guest relations booth or kiosks for help with common questions.
