Few Major League Baseball teams have such an incredible record as the New York Yankees. This team has won the World Series a whopping 27 times. It's no wonder that New Yorkers and visitors to the city clamor to get sought-after tickets to a home game. And while you're in for a treat watching the New York Yankees play, there's also the fact you'll get to enjoy the iconic Yankee Stadium.
The US$2.3 billion stadium opened in April 2009 and is located at One East 161st Street in the Bronx. Not only does Major League Baseball's (MLB) New York Yankees call this stadium home, but so does Major League Soccer's (MLS) New York City FC. This provides people with lots of variety when it comes to live sporting events.
For history buffs, you may be interested to learn this isn't the original stadium that opened in 1923. The new stadium was built just one block to the north and was able to replicate many of the original features. So while it's still relatively new, there is a sense of history to Yankee Stadium.
And while the vast majority of events taking place at Yankee Stadium are sports-related, the venue has hosted some pretty big concerts over the years. These have included the Jonas Brothers, Bad Bunny, Paul McCartney, Trisha Yearwood, and Garth Brooks to name a few.
Let's also point out that if you're going to be visiting Yankee Stadium, you'll also want to leave time for sightseeing in New York City and specifically the Bronx. Located near the stadium are such attractions as the Hip Hop Museum, various bars and restaurants, the New York Botanical Garden, the Bronx Zoo, and Little Italy in the Bronx.
So if you've scored tickets to an upcoming game or event, it's wise to be prepared and know the Yankee Stadium bag policy. We're here to provide you with all the key details before you head to the stadium gates.
For those visiting Yankee Stadium in New York City for the first time, it's got to be a thrilling feeling. The New York Yankees have an incredibly loyal and rather vocal fan following, so there's nothing like catching a game in person. The Yankee Stadium bag policy is not only strict, but it is also detailed. So let's take a look.
The number one priority is safety, and all the policies are meant to ensure safety for all. Fans are allowed only stadium-compliant bags that are a maximum of 16" x 16" x 8". The mlb-compliant bag must be soft-sided, hard-sided bags aren't allowed. You can have one bag per person, plus an additional smaller soft-sided personal item. You can speak to security personnel prior to entry if you have questions. Be aware that you won't find any on-site storage area for bags and belongings that don't meet the bag policy guidelines.
Guests arriving will need to check their ticket for gate information, which will be closest to your seat location. You'll walk through metal detector equipment, or a hand-held metal detector, just like any other major league stadium to enter the Yankee Stadium lobby. Yankee Stadium team members will then do a bag check at a screening table alongside the metal detectors.
The bag policy at Yankee Stadium isn't exactly flexible, and because there is no storage on-site, it can leave you in a bind if you've got oversized items with you. Perhaps you haven't checked into your hotel yet, or you were touring around the city and have an oversized backpack with you that you were hoping would pass the inspection. If this sounds familiar, don't worry because we have the perfect solution for you.
Luggage storage has never been easier, smoother, or more convenient thanks to our safe and secure temporary luggage storage. We've got luggage storage locations throughout New York City, including some close to Yankee Stadium for your convenience. All you need to do is download the Bounce app and then choose the storage location that works best for you and your itinerary while in the Big Apple and make your reservation.
Besides being quick and easy to book, our bag storage starts at $4.60 per bag, per day. And with our 24-hour flat rate fee, you won't have to worry about the game or event running late since the price won't go up. All our bookings also include protection of $10,000.
And because we understand that your plans can suddenly change and you need a sense of flexibility, we also offer free cancellation.
Besides the Yankee Stadium bag policy, there are other prohibited items guests will want to know about including personal items.
When entering you are permitted to bring food and drink as long as it meets the rules. Clear factory-sealed plastic bottles, such as a water bottle that is no larger than one liter are allowed. Empty plastic sports bottles are also allowed. If you plan on bringing a thermos, aluminum bottles, or even glass baby bottles for your little one - you will need to use a small plastic container instead.
A small portion of food that is meant for only you can also be brought in. If you're bringing in fruit, it needs to be sectioned or sliced.
As part of the beverage policy, guests can purchase alcoholic beverages inside. If you want to drink alcohol, be sure to get your alcoholic beverage before the cut-off time which is before the game or event is set to finish.
There is nothing wrong with snapping photos of the action, but extended-length zoom lenses aren't allowed. Other professional camera equipment is also prohibited under the Yankee Stadium guest code.
If you choose to leave Yankee Stadium, you won't be allowed back in.
Yankee Stadium does not have any designated areas for smoking.
Yankee Stadium does allow flags, signs, and banners as long as it's not interfering with other guests and it's not offensive. Yankee Stadium management reserves the right to make the decision. If you have any questions you can always head to the guest relations booths to speak to a Yankee Stadium team member about what's considered acceptable.
Families with young children can bring a stroller into Yankee Stadium, as long as the stroller doesn't block the view for others. Fold-up strollers should be placed under the seat. You can visit a guest relations booth or kiosks if you have any questions.
For guests with disabilities, and who want to learn more about the accessibility features at Yankee Stadium, it's best to call in advance to ask.
It's not exactly for guests to navigate Yankee Stadium and its many policies. This is exactly why we've put together this guide to ensure a great Yankee Stadium experience. This is hallowed ground in New York City, it's home to legendary teams and some incredible live events. This venue should not be missed on your trip to New York City.
