Petco Park is a baseball field located in the East Village district of Downtown San Diego. It's been home to the San Diego Padres MLB team since 2004. It replaced the former home field of the Padres, Qualcomm Stadium, which the Padres shared with the San Diego (now Los Angeles) Chargers of the NFL. While the field is relatively new compared to other MLB home turfs, it's notable in that baseball legend Barry Bonds hit his 755th home run at Petco Park in August 2007, tying the MLB record set by Hank Aaron.
Fun fact: Petco Park is structurally unique in that it was built around the Western Metal Supply Co. building, a National Historic Landmark in San Diego.
Catch the San Diego Padres throughout the MLB season, which spans from early spring through mid-autumn. If you're lucky, you might be able to get a two-for-one game/concert deal, as musicians sometimes play at the Park at the Park following a game; past acts include O.A.R. and Nelly. It's also hosted other sporting events over the years, including rugby sevens, tennis, golf, and basketball. A number of entertainers have also performed at Petco Park, such as the Rolling Stones, Madonna, and Paul McCartney. For other attractions in the area, check out the Bounce guides to the Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, and San Diego Convention Center.
Soft containers and bags measuring less than 16" x 16" x 8" are permitted into Petco Park upon inspection. Hard containers and bags, as well as luggage, are not allowed past security.
