Architect Horace Trumbauer first designed this building in 1892, when he was only 23 years old. Since then, the caste has been expanded and improved numerous times. As with most ancient buildings, innumerable legends have cropped up around the castle. Some say that the building is haunted, while others claim that a great treasure lies within its walls. In 1980, the Cheltenham Township Historical Commission gained possession of the house and transformed it into a museum. The rest, as they say, is history.
