Why use San Marco luggage storage
The Piazza San Marco is one of Italy's most storied and revered places and was once referred to as Europe's drawing room. This cobbled square was built in the 12th century and is flanked by can’t-miss landmarks like Saint Mark's Basilica and the Campanile di Giotto Bell Tower.
It’s a go-to meeting place for tourists and somewhat of a north star for navigating the city’s canals and bridges. Linked with the nearby Grand Canal, St. Mark’s Square has the feeling of being the center of Venice. While the city is essentially an archipelago on the Venetian Lagoon, it remains the historical and cultural centerpiece of the place.
The surrounding district boasts an intoxicating array of landmarks and pillars of Venetian Culture, museums, and architecture. Bucket-list destinations like Doge's Palace are seemingly everywhere. The expertly manicured Giardini Reali di Venezia provides a bit of greenery and a welcome respite from the crowded squares and canals. Looking through the top restaurants in Venice, you’ll find plenty of them clustered around San Marco and there are charming local businesses selling Venetian glass and jewelry at every corner.
Getting around Venice’s city center and San Marco requires a bit of walking or even a boat ride, so lugging your belongings and valuables around is not ideal. Fortunately, you can always store luggage for a few hours with Bounce while you poke around.

What makes Venice so appealing as a travel destination is how undeniably unique it is. This doesn't just apply to the restaurants or landmarks, but daily life itself. Navigating Venice is as unique and beguiling as any of its landmarks. The patchwork of cobbled streets and bridges is navigated on foot. The city’s most iconic transportation methods are gondolas and the vaporetto water taxis which swift you through the network of canals to get from San Marco to other parts of the city.
San Marco train connections
The city’s primary train station is Venezia Mestre, which provides long-distance train connections to other cities in Italy and Europe. It takes about an hour to get from Mestre Train Station to Piazza San Marco via the 4L Bus and the 2S Ferry.
A little closer to San Marco, you'll find Venice's Santa Lucia Train Station. If you're arriving here, take the water bus along the Grand Canal using either Line 1 or Line 2. Line 2 is more direct and will get you to San Marco in about 30 minutes. It's also the same timeframe to walk.
Taking the Vaporetto water taxis around San Marco
Depending on where you're coming from, you'll be able to hop on a vaporetto from anywhere in Central Venice and reach Piazza San Marco within 20 minutes or so. Nearly every major route calls on San Marco.
Getting to San Marco from Venice Airport
It takes just under an hour to get from Marco Polo Airport (VCE) to central Venice and Piazza San Marco. You can take an ATVO Bus #5 to Venezia Station before boarding the #2 Ferry bound for Piazza San Marco.
