Why use Waikiki luggage storage?

Oʻahu is one of the most distinctive and iconic travel destinations in the United States. This Hawaiian island offers picture-perfect sunset views and idyllic beaches for surfing and swimming. If you could find conditions like this anywhere else, you wouldn't be flying halfway across the Pacific. Among the top places in the state for a Hawaiian getaway, Waikiki has to be near the top of the list. The nightlife capital of Honolulu is famous for its beach bars and cosmopolitan vibe.

As far as nightlife goes, Waikiki has some of the most beloved (and infamous) nightclubs and tiki bars in Hawaii. Shoppers will have their hands full on Ohua Street along with Kalākaua and Kūhiō Avenues, and it won't be hard to find world-class restaurants for Hawaiian food and upscale modern bites. For families, the Honolulu Zoo and the Waikīkī Aquarium are perfect places to entertain the kids when they've had enough of the beach.

Waikiki is exceedingly simple to reach from the airport. If you want to hit the beach or get some shopping in right after you've landed, you can stop by a Bounce luggage storage facility to drop off a bag or two for a few hours. This is also useful if you have a late flight leaving Honolulu and want to explore a bit before you leave for the mainland.

Getting around Waikiki

Once you're in Waikiki, most of the top sites and nightlife districts are within a reasonable walk from resorts and hotels. Walkability is one of the most distinctive and appealing attributes of Waikiki as there's more cosmopolitan flair to the area. Getting to Waikiki is fairly simple as most travelers will take a taxi cab or shuttle arranged by their resort. When using public transportation, seeking Waikiki bag storage in advance is ideal.

Getting to Waikiki from the airport

Honolulu's Daniel K. Inouye International Airport is the most common way for non-local travelers to reach Waikiki. It only takes about 20 minutes via taxi or rideshare to reach central Waikiki or the resorts along the waterfront from the airport. Depending on the time of day, you can expect to pay between $25 and $40 for a rideshare or cab.

The Waikiki bus

The Honolulu bus network (or “TheBus”) operates the 19, 20, and 31 Lines routed through Waikiki. While they're fairly reliable and definitely the most affordable transit method, this is an extremely inefficient way to get around as they stop frequently and have to deal with congested traffic conditions. Exploring Waikiki neighborhoods like Chinatown are fairly walkable, and the trolley is a better option for longer commutes, so it's unlikely you'll use the public bus

The Waikiki Trolley

Spend any time in Waikiki and you'll be familiar with the colorful local trolley lines running along travel hotspots. This entirely free service is the best way to affordably get to some of the more remote attractions along the water and in Honolulu.

  • The Blue Line: This line runs along the waterfront and provides easy access to the Halona Blowhole and Sea Life Park.
  • The Green Line: From Waikiki, you can take the Green Line to Diamond Head Crater in about 30 minutes.
  • The Red Line: This route is most useful for history buffs looking to visit Iolani Palace or the Punchbowl Crater.

Waikiki is absolutely not your run-of-the-mill Hawaiian destination where you simply melt in the sun at your resort. Instead, you'll be exploring the city and experiencing the local culture. So don't let your luggage slow you down on a travel day. Download the Bounce mobile app to find secure luggage storage near your first stop on this epic trip to Hawaii.
