  • The Ames Building, a historic skyscraper located in Boston, Massachusetts. Built in 1893, it was considered the city's first skyscraper and Boston's tallest building for 20 years. Designed in the Romanesque Revival style, it is recognized as the second tallest masonry load-bearing structure in the world. It is currently owned by Suffolk University and serves as a student residence. The Ames Building is a masterpiece of 19th-century engineering. Its design combines structural audacity with an imposing aesthetic. Architectural Style: Richardsonian Romanesque Revival: It is inspired by the influential work of architect Henry Hobson Richardson. The design was executed by his successor firm, Shepley, Rutan and Coolidge. Byzantine Influences: The facade incorporates intricate decorative carvings that add Byzantine details to the Romanesque robustness. Structure and Materials Masonry Load-Bearing Walls: Unlike modern skyscrapers supported by steel frames, this building is supported by the thickness of its own stone walls. This makes it the second tallest self-supporting masonry structure in the world (surpassed only by the Monadnock Building in Chicago). Granite Base: The first three floors are constructed of solid Milford granite to support the immense weight above. Sandstone and Slate Tower: The upper levels combine an Ohio sandstone facade with blue slate and red sandstone accents. Facade Composition Arched Windows: The lower and upper floors are distinguished by their large semicircular arches, a classic signature of Romanesque Revival architecture that helps distribute structural loads. Prominent Cornice: The building is crowned by a strongly projecting cornice that visually completes its 14 stories.

  • This was a great experience! It worked out perfectly. The location was fantastic if wanting to walk the Freedom Trail or just around the city & the harbor. The location is inside a small sports club (gym). It was very clean and we felt very safe leaving our bags behind the counter with the employee who would monitor the whole time. The process was quick and seamless. There is a small set of stairs as soon as you enter that you have to walk down to get to the front desk, but nothing crazy unless yours bags are extremely heavy. I would highly recommend this location!

  • This is an amazing service. The staff at the athletic club on Atlantic was super friendly. I had no idea this type of service existed but it made our exploration of Boston possible because we could have never walked the city with our huge luggage.

  • Drop off was easy, only down side is having to carry the suitcases down a flight of stairs, so if you use this place keep that in mind but was not an issue for me and the staff carried one of my bags up for me on the way out. All in all a very convenient location with very helpful and pleasant staff.

Luggage storage near the New England Aquarium for families and tourists

Recommended for: tourists, families, event attendees.

Are you visiting the New England Aquarium with kids and bags in tow? Totally get it. The aquarium itself doesn't have lockers or left luggage facilities, which can be a pain when you've got strollers, backpacks, and souvenirs piling up. The good news? There are luggage storage options within walking distance along the waterfront. Bounce has spots around the area where you can drop off your suitcases and bags before heading in to see the penguins and sea lions. Prices start from $2.25, which makes it pretty affordable for a family outing. The Aquarium T stop on the Blue Line is right there, so getting around is simple. Once your hands are free, you can actually enjoy the touch tanks with the kids without worrying about someone tripping over your roller bag. Long Wharf is just steps away, too, perfect for a harbor cruise or lunch by the water after you're done inside.

Where to store bags near Faneuil Hall before exploring downtown Boston

Recommended for: tourists, locals, commuters, digital nomads.

Faneuil Hall Marketplace is one of those spots where you want both hands free. Between the food stalls at Quincy Market, the street performers, and all the shops, dragging a suitcase around is just not gonna work. The narrow cobblestone paths get crowded, especially on weekends. Smart move? Drop your bags at a Bounce location nearby first. The marketplace has been around since 1742, and honestly, it still feels like the heart of downtown. You're also super close to the Freedom Trail from here, which means you can walk to the North End for cannoli or head toward Boston Common without lugging your stuff. Each booking comes with $10,000 protection, so your belongings stay safe while you're out exploring. The area connects easily to Government Center station, and South Station isn't far if you're catching a train later.

Bag storage options for business travelers near the Financial District and Seaport

Recommended for: business travelers, digital nomads, commuters.

Got meetings in the Financial District, but your hotel checkout was at 11 AM, and your flight isn't until 8 PM? Yeah, that's a long day to be rolling a suitcase between conference rooms. The Seaport area and Financial District are packed with offices, coworking spaces, and conference venues. Bounce connects you with local businesses nearby that can hold your bags securely while you handle your workday. No need to schlep your stuff to South Station lockers or back to Logan just to stash it somewhere. The waterfront is gorgeous for a quick break between meetings, too. Grab coffee, take a walk along the Harborwalk, and your bags are waiting when you're ready. Over 2,000,000 travelers have used Bounce worldwide, and the service works great for short city visits when you need flexibility. Just book through the app, drop off, and pick up whenever works for your schedule.
