La Feria de Sevilla, also known as Feria de Abril (the Seville April Fair), is one of Spain's most emblematic festivals. This exhilarating week-long festivity filled with music, dance, and drinks has occurred every year since its inception in 1847.

Feria takes place in a large fairground in the Los Remedios neighbourhood, in a specific zone called the Real de la Feria, located southwest of the city center by the Guadalquivir River. It's truly one of a kind! The area features 15 specially designed streets brimming with casetas (small houses). These colorful green or red-and-white striped tents, adorned with lights, flowers, and flags, welcome families and friends who gather to celebrate the festival.

This unique cultural celebration happens two weeks after Semana Santa, or Holy Week. The 2025 Sevilla Fair will be held from May 6 to May 11.

What to Expect When Attending Feria de Sevilla 2025

On May 5 at midnight, the Seville Fair officially begins with the alumbrao, when thousands of lightbulbs are lit at the grand entrance (portada) and fairgrounds. Before this, locals enjoy Noche del Pescaíto, a pescaito dinner featuring fried fish and traditional Andalusian dishes.

Dancing, dining, and drinking mark this festive atmosphere. You'll experience traditional music, dance, authentic cuisine, and colorful Andalusian flair.

Live flamenco performances in many casetas are an integral part of the fair. Sevillanos dress in flamenco attire—women in trajes de flamenca (traditional flamenco dresses) and men in elegant trajes cortos (short jackets, high-waisted trousers, and hats). Dancing sevillanas, the local flamenco-style dance, is a must!

You shouldn't miss the typical dishes of the region. Highlights include gazpacho, salmorejo, fried fish, Iberian ham, and the classic churros with chocolate enjoyed in the early hours. The most popular drink at the fair is certainly a rebujito (a refreshing mix of Manzanilla sherry and lemon-lime soda).

Calle del Infierno (Hell Street), the Feria's true fairground, will feature exciting rides, games, and cotton candy! It's a fantastic spot if you're visiting with children.

One of the Feria’s most prestigious traditions, daily bullfights, will take place at Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza. Spain’s top matadors will perform in a spectacle of skill and tradition. Also, expect to see elegant horse-drawn carriages parade through the fairgrounds each day, carrying locals in traditional Andalusian attire.

You can enter the fair for free. However, bring money to enjoy the food, drinks, rides, and attractions. Also, you'll need extra cash to rent a horse-drawn carriage or attend bullfights.

During the Feria, you can anticipate warm and pleasant weather. Historically, average daytime highs in Seville during May range from 27°C to 31°C (81°F to 88°F), with nighttime lows between 13°C and 17°C (55°F to 63°F). Dress your best, wear comfortable dance shoes, and don't forget sunscreen!

How to Get To or From the Event

Parking will be very limited, so public transport is the best option. Here's how to get to Real de la Feria:

• Metro: Line 1 (Metro de Sevilla) stops at Parque de los Príncipes. From there, it's a 10 to 15-minute walk to the fair.
• TUSSAM City bus: There will be special Feria buses (C1, C2, 41, 06, and 05). These routes have extra service during the fair. Line 41 connects the city center with the fair. Night buses (Lanzaderas Nocturnas) run late into the night from the fairgrounds to different parts of Seville.
• By foot: The fairgrounds are about 30-40 minutes on foot from central Seville (the Cathedral or Plaza de España). If you prefer a nice walk, you can cross the Puente de San Telmo bridge, which offers great views of the Guadalquivir River.
