Atlanta Pride 2024
Welcome to the Pride Festival in Atlanta, the city with a grand vision of a world where everyone is equal and united in love.
The Atlanta Pride Festival was established in 1971 to spread awareness about the LGBTQ+ community. The annual event is organized by the Atlanta Pride Committee, a group dedicated to advocating for LGBTQ+ rights and focused on social justice issues and inclusivity.
This year's theme is 'United With Pride.' The festival takes place in Atlanta's Piedmont Park, where it all began. Throughout the following decades, it became one of the largest pride festivals in the USA!
Some of the upcoming events before the Festival are a warm-up for the festival itself!
Atlanta Pride also supports Out On Film, the LGBTQ+ Film Festival in Atlanta, Georgia. If you're a film lover and happen to arrive in Atlanta earlier, you can enjoy many queer stories presented in films from September 26 to October 6.
On October 11, which is also National Coming Out Day, you can dance and experience a variety of music at the Atlanta Pride Official Kick-Off Party. This exciting party takes place in the majestic Georgia Aquarium from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. You can buy tickets for $56 and check out the lineup by visiting the Aquarium's official site.
The main program, the Atlanta Pride Festival and a Parade, is prepared for October 12 & 13. In addition to the annual parade, the Atlanta Pride Committee organizes marches during the festival weekend - the Trans March, Dyke March, and Bi+ Pan March.
The Atlanta Pride Parade kicks off at noon on Sunday as a perfect finish to the festival. Starting from the Atlanta Civic Center MARTA Station and continuing down Peachtree Street, the parade will turn right onto 10th Street and end a block from the Charles Allen Gates to Piedmont Park.
What to Expect When Attending Atlanta Pride 2024
During the weekend of the 2024 Atlanta Pride Festival in Piedmont Park, you can expect to see a lot going on, from live music performances, drag shows, and educational programs to vendor booths with food, drinks, and festival-inspired merchandise.
Ava Max, a global pop sensation, will headline the festival on Saturday with her biggest hits. The schedule for performances and parties is on the event's official site.
Educational programs focus on health and offer on-site HIV testing, wellness resources, and information on LGBTQ+ health issues provided by various health organizations. You can listen to speeches by activists, politicians, and community leaders. They will provide advice for any health concerns and talk about the community's social rights and justice.
The weather will be typical for the middle of October. Expect mild and relatively sunny days during the festival, with temperatures around 65°F (18.3°C). Bring some layers to warm you up during the cooler evenings.
The Atlanta Pride Festival and everything it includes in Piedmont Park is free to attend! However, some after-parties or VIP experiences may require a ticket.
Security Protocols
The safety of everyone attending this event is a priority! Here are some taken measurements:
- Security personnel will be present to ensure the smooth movement of the crowd and keep everyone safe.
