About Orchard Road

With more than two dozen malls and gallerias and hundreds of shops, Orchard Road has more stores, boutiques, eateries, and entertainment venues than any single street in the world. Each shopping center has its own long list of vendors that you can choose from. For example, Paragon has Coach, Prada, Miu Miu, and even Toys R Us. The T Galleria boasts big names like Bvlgari, Hermes, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton. The Orchard Towers is famous for its nightclubs and other entertainment.

If you want to see a movie, you can choose from Plaza Singapura’s Golden Village Cineplex, Shaw House’s Lido 8 Cineplex, or Cathay Cineleisure Orchard. Eateries can be found everywhere, from small diners to the large 900-seat food court on the fourth floor of Wisma Atria. 

For some culture, head to Orchard Point, where they have art galleries and other exhibits. You can also visit the Singapore Art Museum on Queen Street, to see almost 8,000 works of art in 14 galleries. In fact, there are over a dozen art galleries along the Orchard Road shopping district. The 1.6-mile road is a community in itself with a plethora of fun and exciting things to do and see.

Fun Fact: The first shop on Orchard Road was Tangs Department Store, which opened in 1934 and is still a popular spot to shop. 

Things to do at Orchard Road

You can do more than shop and eat on Orchard Road while you are in town. Even though shopping and dining are the main attractions, there is a lot more to enjoy. Here are some of our favorites. 

  • Take a walk along the Helix Bridge, a steel footbridge in the shape of a DNA structure
  • Get a selfie with Merlion, the 28-foot tall lion/fish sculpture at Merlion Park on Fullerton Road
  • Stroll through the lovely 183-acre Singapore Botanic Gardens on Cluny Road
  • Take some amazing selfies with the Urban People statues in Tang Plaza
  • See the city from more than 540 feet in the air on the Singapore Flyer observation wheel 
  • Relax and refresh with a spa treatment at Estheva Spa on Raffles Boulevard
  • Dine in style at the Crystal Jade Palace on Orchard Road at the Takashimaya Shopping Center

Luggage Storage Near the National Museum of Singapore  

On Stamford Road, less than five minutes from Orchard Road, the National Museum of Singapore is the oldest museum in the country, opening in 1849. The central exhibits are based on the history of Singapore, where you can see items like the Singapore Stone. This sandstone slab was found near the Singapore River and dates back to the 10th century. The inscription has yet to be deciphered. You’ll also see the golden ornaments of the Sacred Hill in Eastern Java. The hearse of Tan Jiak Kim is also on display. The building itself is a historical work of art dating back to the 1800s with modern extensions worked into the old design. The gift shop is full of unique gifts for the folks back home, and the cafés are full of tasty food. 

Luggage Storage Near Gardens by the Bay 

For an extremely large park full of beautiful flowers and gardens, the Gardens by the Bay on Marina Gardens Drive is just stunning. You can get there in less than 15 minutes from Orchard Road, and you will be glad you did with all there is to see and do. The park has 250 acres along the Marina Reservoir with three gardens, including the Bay Central, Bay East, and Bay South. The Flower Dome is a three-acre greenhouse with eight separate gardens full of exotic plants and flowers. The Cloud Forest is two acres of tropical mountain space with a 115-foot waterfall and many plants and flowers like orchids, peacock ferns, and different varieties of pitcher plants. Be sure not to forget your camera when dropping off your things at one of our local Bounce spots. 

Luggage Storage Near Mount Faber Park

One of the oldest parks in the country, Mount Faber Park is 138 acres of lush greenery in a secondary rain forest. The park is only 20 minutes away at the corner of Telok Blangah Road and Kampong Bahru Road. Bird watching is very popular here with more than 40 species of birds to look for along the Southern Ridges. Take a hike along the Singing Forest, but make sure you bring some binoculars and your camera. You can even take a cable car ride from the park to Sentosa Island, where they have several stations to enjoy the island’s attractions. You’ll be able to get some incredible photos from 260 feet in the air. Back at Mount Faber, get some food at one of the hilltop cafés before heading out on a hike through the forest.
