About Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay is a 101-hectare botanical park in Singapore. If you are a fan of horticulture, you can’t miss the chance to visit this incredible place. The Gardens by the Bay is made up of three separate gardens: Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden, and Bay Central Garden, all of which extend along Singapore’s waterfront. In addition to an enormous collection of plants, the gardens hold many unique futuristic structures, including sculptures, Supertrees, flower domes, an elevated walkway, and so much more!

The Gardens by the Bay were conceptualized in 2006 as part of an effort to redefine Singapore as Garden City and create an exceptional quality of life for residents. Construction of the first garden, Bay East, began in 2007, and it opened to the public in 2011. The Bay South and Bay Central gardens followed, and all three are continuing to expand and improve.

These days, Gardens By the Bay are one of the biggest attractions in Singapore and welcome millions of visitors each year.

Singapore’s tropical climate is lovely, but the magic will quickly wear off if you’re stuck carrying heavy luggage around. For the most enjoyable experience, drop your bags with a Bounce partner near the Gardens by the Bay to lighten your load.

Luggage Storage Near the Flower Dome

The Flower Dome sits within the Bay South Garden, and, at 1.2 hectares, it is the world’s largest greenhouse. It even holds a Guinness World Record for that fact! The Flower Dome features an arid Mediterranean climate and holds a collection of flowers as well as 8 theme gardens. Themes include a Succulent Garden, Baobabs, an Olive Grove, and gardens highlighting plants for 5 different continents. The flower display changes frequently to embrace seasonal changes and other themes, so there is always something new to see here.

And there are more than just flowers inside the Flower Dome. You’ll also encounter fountains, carvings, sculptures, a rainforest frog exhibit, and more.

The Flower Dome is kept at a cool spring temperature. Bring a jacket, so you don’t get chilled. You will likely want to spend 2 or 3 hours inside this portion of the gardens. Drop your bags with a local Bounce partner before heading in so you can preserve your energy.

Luggage Storage Near the Supertree Grove

Supertrees are impressive vertical gardens that stand 25-50 meters tall. The Supertree Grove can be found within the Bay South Garden. The grove holds 18 Supertree structures that house over 200 different species of plants and work to provide shade for the plants and humans below. Some of the plants you’ll encounter on these structures are various bromeliads, orchids, ferns, and vines.

One of the Supertrees holds a 3 story observatory where you can visit an open-air rooftop. From this rooftop, you can admire the incredible panoramic views over all of the gardens.

You can admire the Supertrees from the ground, or ascend the OCBC Skyway. The Skyway is an elevated walkway that winds through the Supertrees 22 meters above the ground. In the evening, the walkways are host to a light and music show featuring well-known pieces such as the Jurassic Park theme and others that you are sure to recognize.

For your convenience, stash your extra luggage with a Bounce partner before you head out to visit the Supertree Grove.
