A while back, the City Museum and Art Gallery used to service Hong Kong. However, the city’s Urban Council decided to split the City Museum and Art Gallery into two venues – the Hong Kong Museum of Art and the Hong Kong Museum of History. Both venues are incredible in their own right and are certainly worth visiting. However, we recommend visiting the Hong Kong Museum of History first. Some art pieces require patrons to be well-versed in Hong Kong’s history. While the Hong Kong Museum of History won’t automatically make visitors experts on Hong Kong’s past, it will certainly help them appreciate the city’s culture and customs.
