About the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center

The Boston Convention Center is the main convention center serving the Boston area, located near the South Boston Waterfront. Just across the water from the Logan Airport, the convention center is extremely accessible and can conveniently be reached using the Boston public transit system. The center is host to major events and is one of the largest convention centers serving the Northeast with 516,000 square feet of space.  

Fun Fact: For a short period in 1997, the New England Patriots had been attempting to build a new stadium on the land where the convention center is now located.

Things to do Near the Convention Center

The Boston Convention Center is located in the South Boston Waterfront, with plenty to do whether you’re looking to kill time or get a taste of history after attending a convention there. Here are some of the activities Bounce recommends to best enjoy your time around the center.

  • Immerse yourself in American Revolutionary history at the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum
  • Take a break from the convention and immerse yourself in a Yayoi Kusama piece at the Institute of Contemporary Art
  • Get some fresh air and enjoy the waterfront on a short stroll down the Harborwalk
  • Jam out to some live music at the Lawn on D—and if you’re there in the summer be sure to drop by during their annual Block Party

  • A fifteen minute walk from South Station, which can be reached via regional buses, the Red Line, Amtrak, and the Commuter Rail
