Snapdragon Stadium Bag Policy: The Ultimate Guide

Snapdragon Stadium, San Diego, CA

Part of San Diego State’s Mission Valley campus, Snapdragon Stadium is a crowd favorite and popular with locals for the college football games played here. This open-air stadium has enough seats for up to 35,000 spectators. With that much fan support, you can bet that things get very lively and fun. But it's not just sports, Snapdragon Stadium also hosts other types of events such as concerts.

While you may be counting down the days to the event you're attending, we encourage you to give yourself enough extra time before or after to explore San Diego. This is the type of city you can easily spend days in, and still not scratch the surface of what it offers.

Some of the standout attractions in San Diego include the San Diego Zoo, the USS Midway Museum, SeaWorld San Diego, Seaport Village, Belmont Park, Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, and the San Diego Air & Space Museum.

If you plan to head from San Diego International Airport straight to Snapdragon Stadium for an event, with all your luggage and oversized bags in tow, you're going to need to think again. These won't be allowed in the stadium, which is where we can help. So let's take a look at the Snapdragon Stadium clear bag policy, and other rules, so you're well prepared.

Snapdragon Stadium bag policy

Snapdragon Stadium Bag Policy

Like so many other stadiums, Snapdragon Stadium is a clear bag-only venue. With that said, guests are encouraged to arrive light, with as few items as possible.

The clear bag policy outlines the style and size bag accepted, so it's very specific. Only clear bags are allowed for sports events and special events.

You can use clear plastic, clear vinyl, or clear PVC. You can bring as much as you want in your bag, as long as it does not exceed 12" x 6" x 12". Any bag larger than this size will be prohibited from entering the stadium gates. A one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag, such as a Ziploc bag, is acceptable.

Guests may choose to bring a smaller bag instead, as the policy allows purses, bags, or clutches no larger than 4.5” x 6.5”. Any bag, package, or container must adhere to the bag policy.

Bags that aren't allowed inside Snapdragon Stadium include large purses, coolers, briefcases, large backpacks, and computer bags. Also prohibited in the stadium gates is luggage of any type.

If you've got specific medical needs or you are caring for a young child, you can speak to stadium staff about the entry policies and what may be permitted inside (exceptions). It's best to do this before you arrive.

Snapdragon Stadium Policies and Tips

We've gathered some additional information regarding the rules, policies, and tips for visiting Snapdragon Stadium. This will help ensure you have a positive experience.

Getting to Snapdragon Stadium

Driving to the stadium can be a little tricky, but only because the parking lots fill up fast on event days/nights. Unless you have already purchased a parking pass, you’ll need to find an alternative. There is limited parking in the stadium’s overflow lot located at Northside Drive and Friars Road, but again, it will fill up fast.

The easiest (and cheapest) way for guests to get to the stadium is on the Trolley’s Green Line. This light rail system stops at Stadium Station, so you’ll be on the venue’s doorstep in minutes. The service here is direct, and the trolley runs every 15 minutes minimum - sometimes more often before and after games.

Using a rideshare or a taxi is another popular way to get to Snapdragon Stadium, especially since there are designated drop-off and pick-up locations.

Snapdragon Stadium Outside Food and Drink Policy

There is no outside food permitted in the stadium, but sealed water bottles or empty refillable water bottles that are no bigger than 32 oz are allowed. Any other type of beverage container is prohibited on the stadium grounds. You can contact guest services about exceptions for those with special needs and/or medical requirements.

In terms of bringing alcoholic beverages into Snapdragon Stadium, it's strictly prohibited. You also can't take alcohol out of the stadium.

If you plan on buying food and drinks, be aware that there are cashless concessions. Snapdragon Stadium is a cashless facility with all vendors, concession stands, and retail locations not accepting cash. You'll need to use a credit or debit card. If you only have cash on you, there are reverse ATMs at the southeast and northeast entries where you can convert cash into a pre-paid debit card.

For guests sitting in a premium seating area, the area does offer in-seat service when ordering food and drinks.

Snapdragon Stadium Camera, Video, and Audio Recording Policy

As per the Snapdragon Stadium camera policy, no video or audio recording is permitted. As long as you stick to still images and are using a non-flash and non-professional camera, you will be fine. Non-professional cameras include disposable ones and digital or 35mm cameras with lenses that don’t exceed 6”.

Also prohibited under this policy are tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks. And don't forget, you can't bring in a camera bag.

Snapdragon Stadium General Rules

Here are a few additional Snapdragon Stadium rules to be mindful of:

  • Strollers are allowed in the stadium as long as they are stored under your seat. If they are too big, there are designated stroller areas where you can leave them.
  • Guests can bring binoculars, but binocular cases aren't allowed.
  • Pets aren't allowed in the venue, except for service animals.
  • Snapdragon Stadium is inclusive for all, including disabled guests.
  • There are parents' rooms located in the southwest concourse, northwest concourse, and a few other spots. They offer a quiet room for nursing parents and those who need a quiet space for kids during events.

Your Visit to Snapdragon Stadium Should Be Fun and Stress-Free

Any visit to Snapdragon Stadium, especially for an SDSU home game, is an exciting experience. Leave everything that you don’t need behind either in your car or at a Bounce storage facility to make sure you don't have any prohibited bags. Then, you can thoroughly enjoy your time at the stadium property. Go Aztecs!
