All about Mexico City Airport

In just a few years, the capital of Mexico has become the trendiest travel destination on the planet. Gone are the days when international travelers merely stuck to the resorts in Mexico's beach towns. In-the-know globetrotters from around the world have discovered Mexico City (or CDMX) and rightly consider it among the coolest places for a trip.

One of the world’s largest cities, Mexico City’s cultural offerings are absolutely world-class. The dining scene is legitimately one of the best in the world, and with a mix of traditional and contemporary restaurants opening seemingly every day, CDMX is keeping foodies and the Michelin staff quite busy. Architecture and design enthusiasts have their work cut out for them, as do fans of contemporary and fine art.

Mexico City International Airport is the primary gateway for exploring CDMX, with most major airlines and Aeroméxico providing connections throughout North America, Asia, and Europe. For most travelers, a trip to CDMX requires quite a bit of planning. This makes the Bounce luggage storage service and our Mexico City locations all the more useful to store luggage before or after your flight.

How to get from Mexico City Airport to the city

The airport is situated about six miles east of Zócalo, which is the historic center of Mexico City. For plenty of international travelers, the most common way to reach hotels and attractions in the center of Mexico City is by taxi or private car. Even with traffic, it generally takes between 30 and 40 minutes to get from the airport, but these rides are generally very cheap at under $50. Many hotels will offer private transfers or other transportation methods as well.

Metro lines from MEX to the City Center

Mexico City Airport is served by Metro Line 5 but only for travelers using Terminal 1. If you’re traveling through Terminal 2, you can take the open-air walkway to reach the metro stop.

  • Line 5: Politécnico Station (20 minutes), Oceanía Station (15 minutes), Hangares Station (20 minutes)
