13 Unmissable Things To Do In Perth At Night

Perth is the largest city and the capital of Western Australia. Its location on the Indian Ocean means you will have plenty of beaches to visit if that is your thing. It also means a terrific selection of seafood restaurants, so you have your pick of many in Perth at night.

Perth boasts a diverse array of tourist attractions such as the Perth Zoo, Fremantle Prison, Caversham Wildlife Park, and the Perth Mint where they melt pure gold. But these all close at five, so what can you do at night? Actually, Perth is fairly quiet after dark. However, you can find some nightclubs and bars if that is your scene. And there is more!

Check out the Perth beaches, street art, Perth parklands, and Swan Valley. Although the city has an excellent South Perth foreshore, two of the main attractions here are Kings Park and the Swan River. Bring a metal detector and you may get lucky. One resident found badges from a World War I soldier.

If you want to see some art by local artists, you can check with any of the museums in town to see if they have any evening events. For street art, check out Wolf Lane where you can also get a drink at the local bar by the same name.

Perth has a plethora of art displays all over town ranging from indigenous culture to modern art. Or enjoy a private art gallery such as Berry Art on Forrest Street in South Perth. You could also find a guided tour that does private visits at night to art museums with both local and international artists.

Right by the Perth Freemantle Station public transport in the city center, the Fremantle Markets are the most popular in Western Australia. They have it all from apples to zinnias so they really do have everything from A to Z. You'll find what you want there and even some things you didn't know you wanted.

Pick a scenic spot in Perth along the coast or at a park and watch the night sky. The Perth area has so many places you can watch the sunset. Or, you can play laser tag, do some indoor skydiving at iFly Indoor Skydiving, or meet some new friends at a club. You may also enjoy the interesting exhibits at His Majesty's Theatre.

With so many things to do in Perth, you won't want to be carrying shopping purchases or even heavy purses or backpacks. On your way to enjoying the outdoor cinemas, cruises, or Victoria Park where you can try your luck at the casino, find a Perth luggage storage site to leave your belongings first.

Perth Concert Hall

Featuring the West Australian symphony orchestra, the Perth Concert Hall has shows all year long with performances by the London Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, and even performers like Sting, Ray Charles, and Melissa Ethridge. Located in the city center, this is one of the fun things you can do when visiting Perth. Visit Barrack Street Jetty and the Bell Tower, you cannot miss this when you visit Perth.

The hall features more than 350 shows per year. Some of the recent shows include the Symphony of Colour, Handel's Messiah, and the Magical Music of Harry Potter. Besides music, they have comedy shows, theater performances, and fun activities for the kids on school holidays. And if you get hungry, try the Riverside Cafe.

Kings Park and Botanic Garden

With more than 990 acres of space, Kings Park is the largest part of the entire country. It is also home to the largest part of the Swan River, which means summer here is a blast. You can find five memorials placed about the park as well as the Western Australia Botanic Garden.

The garden boasts 44 acres of its own featuring over 2,000 native species. Don't miss the DNA Tower. But one of the most popular things to do in Kings Park is to explore the view through the trees on the Lotterywest Federation Walkway. With a rental car, you can also visit both Swan Valley and Margaret River.

The Tourist Wheel

Located near the Freemantle Prison in Esplanade Park, the Tourist Wheel is one of the most fun things to do in Perth at night. The huge Ferris wheel is 131 feet tall and gives you a unique birds-eye view of the city skyline in the comfort of a temperature-adjusted gondola.

Each glass gondola holds up to six people so you and the family can share. The best time to enjoy this attraction is at sunset when you can see the twinkling city lights as well as Swan River, Fremantle Prison, the nearby lighthouses, and Rottnest Island. If your children aren't afraid of heights, this is a fun activity for kids too.

Perth C Restaurant in the Sky

Location on the 33rd floor of St. George's Terrace, you can dine with a view at the only revolving restaurant in Western Australia. Don't worry, it does not spin you fast like a carnival ride. In fact, you wouldn't even know you were moving until looking out at the changing scenery.

It takes about 90 minutes for the restaurant to fully revolve but you may not even notice because you will be taking pictures of your plates for Instagram. Perth C Restaurant in the Sky serves photo-worthy dishes from red wine braised short ribs to the duck breast with goat cheese, macadamia nuts, and quince gratin.

iFly Perth Australia

Perth has several indoor and outdoor skydiving adventure opportunities. But iFly Perth Australia is the most popular. Located on the Great Eastern Highway in Perth CBD this place is open until 9:30 PM and welcomes everyone from age three to 103.

You will get an orientation and learn how to fly before gearing up in a flight suit and helmet for the adventure. Many think it is like skydiving but you do not jump or fall, you float on a huge cushion of controlled air. The whole session takes over an hour so you can spend lots of time in the air.

Rottnest Island

It sounds like a place you don't want to go but you should really take a ride out to Rottnest Island off the coast of Western Australia. You can get there on a cruise or on the ferry and you will be treated to sublime beaches on the Indian Ocean. This is where the locals go, so it must be awfully fun.

Consider taking a dive or snorkeling. The whole area is full of vibrantly colored coral reefs and even a few shipwrecks to explore under the sea. The island itself is interesting too. You can take a guided tour, check out the Wadjemup Museum, or play 18 holes at the golf course.

Optus Stadium

Previously known as Perth Stadium, you can watch the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium in Victoria Park right on the Swan River. It is a multi-purpose stadium where they hold all kinds of events like cricket, football, and rugby but it has also been home to some concerts and light shows.

If there is no game or event going on while you are in Perth, take a guided tour. You will go behind the scenes where you can get some selfies in the players' locker area and see the best places to eat and drink because there are more than 50 eateries and bars.

Paramount Night Club

Since the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts closes at five, you will need to find another way to see some art. Why not go to Paramount Night Club on James Street? The drinks are inexpensive and this is where the locals go to party.

This is not one of Perth's small bars. This is a huge club open until 1 AM on Saturdays. You will enjoy live music, famous DJs, disco balls, and intense light shows. They even have an oxygen bar.

Rooftop Movies

You don't have to worry about seating either. They supply beanbag chairs and beach seats for you to relax and enjoy the show. You can also get some great pizza, popcorn, and burgers, or bring your own food and drinks. Get there early to get a good seat because every outdoor movie location in Perth is very popular.

Holey Moley Mini Golf

Perth also has a fun way to spend a few hours at night. Holey Moley Mini Golf is open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays so you can play all night. Located in the West Deck at Karrinyup Shopping Centre, this place has two 9-hole courses to enjoy.

But there is more than just golf going on here. There is also a bowling alley laser tag, and a whole bunch of video and arcade games. The place is more suited for adults as they serve adult beverages. Holey Moley is best suited for the 18+ crowd rather than families (though children are permitted here during the day). And what could be more hilarious than trying to play mini-golf after a few drinks?

It begins at the Perth city center and goes all the way to the coast at Fremantle Station with stops like Perth Station and more in between.
