A view from the top deck inside the Gillette Stadium during a football game

When it comes to NFL football, one of the most iconic teams has to be the New England Patriots. The team has won the Super Bowl an incredible six times! Not only that, they've also been in the Super Bowl more times than any other team. So it's no wonder that those traveling to Boston and Providence often want tickets to see a game. Gillette Stadium is the home stadium for the Patriots and seats a whopping 65,000 fans.

Located at 1 Patriot Pl, in Foxborough, the stadium is just 20 miles from both Providence and Boston. The convenient location is what helps the venue to draw such huge crowds not just on game day, but for all events. Gillette Stadium also hosts concerts, touring shows, and other types of live entertainment. It acts as the heart of an entertainment district called Patriot Place, which is teeming with shops, restaurants, a Patriots Hall of Fame, a cinema, and more.

With a venue this large it's no surprise that it manages to attract some of the biggest concert tours that have taken place. Some of the most notable performers who have made stops at Gillette Stadium include The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Billy Joel, Kenny Chesney, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Luke Bryan, and Bon Jovi.

And let's not glaze over the fact that both Providence and Boston are big destinations for tourists thanks to the many attractions, shopping, dining, and more. A few of the more popular attractions you may want to check out include the New England Aquarium, the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum, the Museum of Science, the Boston Children's Museum, and the USS Constitution Museum.

To ensure you have the best time at the game or show you'll be seeing at the stadium, you'll need to know the details of the bag policy. It can seem quite restrictive, which may leave you wondering what to do with your oversized bags, luggage, and other belongings. We can certainly help with that thanks to our temporary luggage storage. So let's take a closer look.

Bag Policy at Gillette Stadium: What You Need to Know Before You Visit

Fans arriving at the stadium may be surprised at how strict the bag policy is. This is why it's best to arrive light, ideally with nothing in hand. Guests are allowed a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag that doesn't exceed 12″ x 12″ x 6”. A small wristlet or handheld wallet is also allowed as long as it's not larger than 6.5″ x 4.5”. If you buy anything at the stadium's ProShop, items will be placed in clear plastic bags. These will also be allowed in.

Some small electronic items are also allowed in, but they need to be turned off until you pass through the stadium gates and the security check. These items include cell phones, small transistor radios, and personal digital assistants. If you need to bring in medical supplies, you'll need to request an exemption in advance by contacting the stadium.

Some of the bags and containers that aren't allowed under the bag policy include coolers (soft and hard-sided), camera bags, a case/bag for binoculars, computer bags, purses, backpacks, seat cushions that have zippers or pockets, fanny packs, luggage, and briefcases.

On top of the strict clear bag policy, there is no luggage or bag storage on-site at the stadium. For these reasons, our temporary bag storage can be the perfect and most convenient solution on game or event day.

A few basic rules to know about before fans get to the park include the fact everyone needs to go through a metal detector at the Gillette Stadium gates.
