The Florida Renaissance Festival began its journey in 1992, a modest endeavor nestled in Fort Lauderdale’s Snyder Park. What started as a small event with a handful of performers and artisans has since blossomed into one of Southeast's most immersive Renaissance fairs, attracting tens of thousands of visitors annually. The festival's transformation mirrors the spirit of the Renaissance: bold, creative, and constantly evolving.

By the mid-1990s, the festival had outgrown its original location, relocating to Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach, which became its permanent home. The lush, sprawling grounds provided the perfect home for the festival's elaborate transformation into a place from the past.

For those thirsty for knowledge, the mid-fourteenth century marked the beginning of a transition between the medieval and modern worlds. This transition is known as the Renaissance — French for rebirth.

The Renaissance brought many remarkable minds (such as Petrarch, Da Vinci, and Dante). They all managed to break off from the medieval period and bring light to the new one, known for revitalizing art, philosophy, and politics. Humans, their originality, and their potential became the central part of everything! This festival aims to follow the ideas of these and many other important figures from the Renaissance and provides a lively atmosphere that celebrates creativity, joy, and human potential!

Characteristics of the Renaissance include a renewed interest in classical antiquity, a rise in humanist philosophy (a belief in self, human worth, and individual dignity), and much more.

What to Expect When Attending Florida Renaissance Festival 2025

Each weekend has a unique theme. The first one is named Jester’s Jamboree – A Gaggle of Giggles! and it will bring bubbly fairies, a giant rocking horse, and so on to provide major merriment!

On February 8 and 9, the second weekend brings the saga of Viking and Valkyrie, while the third, A Valentine’s Weekend, is reserved for love, of course! The fourth weekend is a seafaring pirate weekend, a unique adventure! Weekend five is a Marketplace Mayhem – Shopeth ‘til you Dropeth! Weekend six: Gears and Gadgets – The Lost Inventions of DaVinci will let you glimpse into DaVinci's secret workshop! The last one is Enchanted Extravaganza – The Characters are on the Loose… where you'll hear legendary tales from many famous characters, sitting right next to seven dwarves!

Performers dressed as heroic knights, wenches, lords, jesters, and mythical creatures roam the grounds, engaging in humorous banter and storytelling! You can cheer for your favorite knight in thrilling, high-energy competitions; enjoy bagpipes, lutes, and traditional Renaissance tunes, often accompanied by dancers in vibrant costumes.

Live demonstrations of acrobats and fire eaters will get you gasping in awe. The festival is perfect for the whole family! You and your loved ones can challenge yourself in axe throwing, sword fighting, Tomato Torture challenge, and archery! You can also try to climb the towering rock wall, take a spin on a dizzying Crow's Nest, or endure the ferocious barrel ride!

There will be so much to discover, from lively pubs to food vendors offering delicious treats such as candied nuts, funnel cakes, and chocolate-covered fruit.

Music, decorations, and the overall vibe will match the era or the weekend’s theme, creating a sense of time travel!

Expect pleasant weather! February's average daytime highs will hover around 73–75°F (23–24°C), with lows near 66–68°F (19–20°C). By March, temperatures will rise slightly, with highs near 77°F (25°C) and lows around 68°F (20°C). Consider wearing a costume to blend into the atmosphere and enjoy!
