Exploring Pompeii luggage storage

It was a normal day in Pompeii, an ancient Roman town in Campania, Italy, until the massive Mount Vesuvius erupted, leaving the entire area covered in a blanket of volcanic ash. Today, this city frozen in time is one of the top destinations in Italy with key attractions like the magnificent Amphitheatre, frescos, the necropolis of the Herculaneum Gate, and more.

To guarantee visitor safety and protect the rooms and frescoes, suitcases, large bags, and other bulky items aren’t allowed inside Pompeii. Store your bag in a secure luggage storage facility to keep your belongings safe while sightseeing.

Getting around Pompeii

As one of Italy’s most famous tourist spots, Pompeii can get busy with millions of visitors each year. Porta Marina is the main Pompeii entrance where you can grab souvenirs and access the information kiosk. But if you want to directly go to the Amphitheatre, the Forum, and other famous spots, enter through Piazza Anfiteatro.

A local train is the easiest way to get to Pompeii. Stop at the Pompeii Scavi-Villa dei Misteri station, located right across from one of the main entrances to the ruins.

Many commuters catch the Circumvesuviana train on Line 1, which runs between Sorrento and Naples with stops in Pompeii. The trip from Sorrento to Pompeii Scavi station is 42 minutes and 37 minutes from Naples’ Napoli Porta Nolana train station. Alternatively, you can take the Campania Express, which runs along the same route as the Circumvesuviana. But it’s more specialized for tourists and typically runs from April to October only.

Thanks to Italy’s high-speed trains, anyone can visit Pompeii from Rome in under two hours. From Roma Termini, you just need to transfer once when you get off at Napoli Centrale and arrive at Pompei Scavi Villa Dei Misteri station.

How nice it would be to travel and explore Pompeii's historic sites without so much stuff! That's possible with our reliable luggage storage service. If you have your items stowed near the ancient city ruins and want to see the rest of the Amalfi coast and Campania region, leave them there for a few more hours or days and take an amazing day trip from Pompeii.
