Menu highlights include a perfectly crispy scotch egg, and their authentic carvery menu (rolled loin is the most popular cut). More curious English Classics on the menu include rubbed turkey breast or the marmalade roasted gammon. It's also not a bad place to hang out and enjoy a pint of traditional English beer. 

International travelers might be surprised to learn that one of the quintessential English dining experiences is at a proper curry house, which is exactly what you'll find at this cozy spot in the center of town. While many of its counterparts focus on regional Indian cuisine, Empress of India combines these varieties by offering an extensive menu of familiar favorites and some lesser-known curries and treats like their onion bhaji. This is easily one of the best options in town for vegans and vegetarians, too.

Situated on the gorgeous Canterbury Road in neighboring Faversham, this traditional English restaurant has earned Michelin recognition for both its stellar ambiance and well-executed menu. Set in a stately Georgian Manor, the restaurant itself is worth the trip to nearby Faversham, and it has the appearance of a landmark more than a restaurant. The menu rotates regularly based on seasonal ingredients but builds around traditional British flavors made with produce directly from their garden and high-quality game.
