About Perth Station

Richard Jewell designed the Perth Station before 1880, and it took almost a year to finish before the station was open to the public. Located on Wellington and Roe Streets in Western Australia, Perth Station has been transporting people since 1881. The rail system was completely rebuilt in 1983 and the early 1990s to include more lines and better-constructed tracks. It is the largest rail station in the Transperth Network and serves over 38,000 people per day.

Platforms were built underground in 2007 to accommodate the MetroRail project with a walkway under Wellington Street or Murray Street. The railway is a popular addition and adds many stops in the Perth area. When you need a snack or drink, you can choose from several eateries, including WH Smith and Costa Coffee, which serve food, sundries, reading material, and more. The station has free Wi-Fi and plenty of seating as well.

Just outside the station, you will see a plethora of places to grab some grub like the Bonsai Restaurant and Café on William and Roe Streets, Café Crown on Stirling Street, and the Belgian Beer Café on Murray and King Streets. You will also find over a dozen museums, lots of places to shop, and several great parks to enjoy.

Fun Fact: Perth Station was supposed to have a clocktower built into it in the 1970s, but it never happened.
