The Staples Center, rebranded to Crypto.com Arena in 2022, is located in the South Park district of Downtown Los Angeles. It opened its doors in October 1999 and is part of L.A. Live, a complex that also includes the Los Angeles Convention Center. Staples Center is home to the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers (NBA), Los Angeles Kings (NHL), and Los Angeles Sparks (WNBA). Furthermore, it’s hosted the Grammy Awards since 2000 (with the exception of two years). Over 250 events take place annually at the Staples Center, bringing in around four-million visitors each year.
Fun fact: Staples Center is the only arena home to two NBA teams. Additionally, it’s one of the two professional sports venues on the continent home to two teams playing within the same league (the other being MetLife Stadium outside of New York, which hosts the NFL’s New York Giants and New York Jets).
Basketball fans can catch Lakers and Clippers games throughout the NBA season, and hockey fans can watch the Kings on the ice during the NHL season, both of which last from fall through spring. Other sports events have been hosted at the Staples Center intermittently over the years, including wrestling, gymnastics, and bull riding. Staples Center also hosts concerts, conferences, and other large-scale events.
Visitors to Crypto Arena are only permitted to bring bags under the dimensions of 14” x 14” x 6”. Thus, large backpacks, luggage, and other sizable personal items aren’t allowed past security. If you have these larger items in tow and you plan on going to Staples Center via public transportation, it’s wise to leave them with a Bounce partner on your way to the event.
