Yes, but they're not always the best option. Luggage lockers can fill up quickly and may be unavailable when you need them. Some luggage lockers may be too small to fit large or bulky items. Unlike luggage lockers, we don't charge per hour and instead charge a flat rate for 24 hours of storage. We also have partners who watch over your stuff to make sure it's safe, and can answer any questions you may have or give you advice on what to do in Almada.
We only partner with trusted businesses who have a dedicated, secure place to keep your luggage safe. Some businesses may store luggage behind a counter that's off-limits to customers, while others may have storage rooms or closets for your luggage. But no matter where you choose to leave your luggage, our partners will keep it safe.
Yes, but many companies charge per hour and costs can add up fast. We charge one price for 24 hours of storage, so storing your stuff is more affordable in Almada.

While suburbs are often overlooked as travel destinations, there are a few that make for exhilarating adventures outside of the hustle and bustle. It’s not uncommon for hidden gems to be tucked away on the outskirts of larger cities, and visiting a smaller town will provide international travelers with a deeper context for the city they’re visiting.
Some of the best suburbs in Europe are situated near the coastal Portuguese cities like Lisbon. These leafy suburbs are located on the same waterfront that makes Lisbon and Porto amazing places to travel to. Some of them have adopted Bohemian cultural offerings. Some of them have even become beach towns and destinations for surfers from around the globe. One of Portugal’s gems is a suburb of Lisbon called Almada, with its historic quarter Cacilhas and gorgeous Costa da Caparica beach.
Here’s everything you need to know:
Most travelers visiting Lisbon might feel the need to get out of the city for a while, and if you’re planning a day trip, there’s no better spot than Almada. While there are train stations (with storage lockers) throughout the city and suburbs, the best way to get to Almada might be a short ferry ride. If you’re planning on exploring Almada on a travel day, you’ll want to book luggage storage services while sightseeing.
The best option in Almada is Bounce, and we have luggage storage facilities all over Lisbon and Almada. Bounce also has premium features like a mobile app for booking on the go and 24/7 customer support. And with the BounceShield Guarantee, it’s easy to have peace of mind that your belongings are well taken care of.
For a city of its size, Almada has plenty of history to unpack, including the wonderful Cacilhas neighborhood and its well-preserved historic buildings. The Cristo Rei statue also provides exceptional panoramic views of Lisbon, the waterfront, and the surrounding area. Portugal’s maritime history is vital to the country’s identity, and there are museums and landmarks all over Almada worth visiting. The city also has much to offer in the way of culture. There are lovely restaurants in Almada and a surprisingly exceptional shopping scene as well. In all likelihood, you’ll want to hit the beach at Costa da Caparica at least once.
Almada’s most popular attraction (and claim to fame, really) is a massive statue of Jesus Christ that overlooks Lisbon and its waterfront. For about $6, you can climb to the top of the statue for the best views of Lisbon and The Tagus River. Expect a line as everyone with an Instagram account pines for a snap of this view.
This 18th-century villa has been repurposed into a cultural center and museum. The building is magnificent to tour, with well-preserved decor lined with contemporary and classic artwork from Portuguese artists. The villa’s gardens are superb as well, making it a nice stop on any sightseeing trek through Almada.
There’s nothing like visiting an old boat in a historic harbor. This 19th-century naval museum is a 50-gun frigate that’s docked in Cacilhas. It was the final wooden ship built by the Portuguese navy, and it’s seen voyages around the globe, dating back to when Portugal controlled vast swaths of territory across its colonies. Today, you can board and tour the boat to learn about Portugal’s maritime heritage and how the ship’s sailors lived.
While these landmarks won't have bag policies, they also won’t have left luggage lockers, so you’ll want to arrange a place to store the bags before heading to the museum. That’s why Bounce has luggage storage locations near Almada's best landmarks and attractions.
You’ll want to explore Cacilhas regardless of whether you actually need to shop. The narrow streets of Alameda's historic quarter are lined with traditional Portuguese restaurants, cafés, and cute shops selling gifts, handcrafted goods, and art. It’s the best spot to buy a gift or souvenir.
For practical purchases, you can stop into the Almada Forum, which has dozens of stores and restaurants. It’s one of the largest malls near Lisbon, with most major brands having a retail presence here.
If you want a proper luxury shopping experience, scheduling a day trip to Lisbon’s city center is your best option. Situated in the beautiful Praca do Comercio, Rua Augusta is lined with designer stores, international fashion brands, and trendy local boutiques. At first glance, you’ll find Zara and H&M, but dig a little deeper, and you’ll wind up in locally-owned boutiques selling the hippest Portuguese brands. Rua Augusta is also a great place to hang out for a coffee or drink.
If you’re popping around Almada’s local shops for an entire day, you won't want to be lugging the bags around. Luckily, Bounce’s luggage storage facilities make it possible to easily store the bags near the best retail hotspots in Almada and Lisbon.
The best thing about Portuguese restaurants is that you can find world-class seafood in a no-frills atmosphere at (almost suspiciously) low prices. This delightfully shabby neighborhood spot is essentially the Portuguese equivalent of a roadside barbecue shack. Freshly caught seafood is cooked on a charcoal grill with traditional recipes and served on a delightful patio. It's the quintessential Portuguese dining experience. Don't miss the sardines as a snack to nibble on while you wait for your catch of the day.
Before the 1970s, this building in Cacilhas was a warehouse used to store port wine barrels for export. Today, it houses one of the best restaurants in Lisbon, let alone Almada. While the formerly industrial setting is still apparent, this stylish seafood restaurant is the go-to setting for date night in Almada. Expect modern takes on heavily seasonal Portuguese classics and a few meat dishes.
You won't want to head to this Almada mainstay if you're not into seafood. Farol has been turning out the best seafood in town for over a century, and there's not much else on the menu. Farol de Cacilhas is the right place for you if you are into freshly caught seafood dishes alongside a cold beer. It’s family-friendly and comfortable, yet there's a social atmosphere that lacks any pretension, which is a nice change of pace in Lisbon.
If you want to store luggage for a few hours while you pop around to Almada's bars and restaurants, you can rely on Bounce and our strategically placed locations. We're more convenient than city lockers, and you can book on the go once you decide which restaurant to hit.
Bounce is easily the best luggage storage Almada offers, but it’s hardly the only city where this service is available. Cities like Lisbon, Porto, Setubal, and other major Portuguese metro areas all have Bounce luggage storage facilities. These are often well situated near the main train station and tourist area, so dropping the bags off at a Bounce storage spot is always convenient!
