About Como San Giovanni
Como San Giovanni train station sits in the town of Como, which itself is found on the lake of the same name. This is one of the biggest lakes in Italy and arguably one of the most beautiful, tucked as it is into a fold of the Alp mountain range on the border between Italy and Switzerland.
This isn't a big train station; in fact, it has only four platforms. However, the station receives 1.5 million visitors every year. That's because it's a gateway to one of the tourist hotspots of northern Italy. This is the last station on the line before entering Switzerland, and it's a place where many people begin their exploration of this almost unbelievably scenic area.
Small as it is, the station can get incredibly crowded, especially during the summer tourist season. For that reason alone, it's a good idea to find luggage storage facilities where you can leave your bags for a few hours or for days at a time while you explore the region.
Can I store my luggage at Como train station?
No. Unfortunately, this small train station doesn't offer luggage storage services. However, Bounce partners with local shops, hotels, restaurants, and other businesses to make sure you always have plenty of luggage storage options wherever you go. Book luggage storage online with Bounce, and you'll never be caught without a place to leave your things.
Can I store luggage at a hotel if I'm not staying there?
While many hotels offer luggage storage for guests, it's a lot harder to find ones that will store bags for you when you're not staying there. However, Bounce's luggage storage service takes the guesswork out of finding a place to leave your things. We partner with local hotels and other businesses to make it easy to find luggage storage options wherever you are. You can leave your bags and suitcases for a few hours or for the entire day while you explore Como thanks to our baggage storage service.
Do train stations in Italy have luggage storage?
For security reasons, self-service luggage lockers don't usually exist in Italian train stations. With that said, some of the larger stations do offer left luggage facilities. However, at smaller places like Como San Giovanni Station, luggage storage can be difficult to find.
Can you take luggage on Lake Como ferry?
Generally, you can take bags and suitcases on the Lake Como ferry. However, really bulky items such as skis may be prohibited, especially during busy times. In that case, it might be better to make a reservation with Bounce and leave the heavy things behind.

Tempio Voltiano
This striking building may look like an ancient Roman temple, but in fact, it celebrates something much more modern. Alessandro Volta was the inventor of the electrical battery, he was born in Como and eventually retired there at the end of his busy and productive life.
Now, this impressive building stands as a monument to the city's most famous son. Located close to the water's edge, it's hard to miss this striking building, and it's a great photo opportunity as well as a fitting tribute to a man who had such a huge impact on the modern world.
Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta
Como isn't an especially big town, but it is big enough to have its own Cathedral. This Gothic masterpiece may not be quite as impressive as Milan's famous Duomo, but it does date back to the same era, with construction starting in 1396. The project wasn't completed until 1770, and along the way, architectural styles changed, giving the building some unique architectural features. Notably, the façade has statues of Pliny the Elder and Pliny the Younger, two Roman writers who were both born in Como.
The serene surroundings of the Cathedral are a great place to take a break from the tourist crowds and explore the spiritual heart of the city. Note that the opening hours may be affected by religious services.
Villa Olmo
This grand neoclassical villa offers one of the most beautiful environments in Como - which is really saying a lot, given the way the rest of the city looks.
Construction here was started in 1797 and finished in 1812, with the palace designed to be a lakeside retreat for a local nobleman. Since 1924, this palace has belonged to the city of Como, which uses it to host artistic exhibitions and other cultural events. That's the only time you'll be able to get into the palace, but it's worth visiting just to stroll through the extensive gardens. Home to hundreds of varieties of plant life, the gardens also offer an incredible view of the lake. Plus, they are free to visit, which can give your wallet a break in a place where things aren't always as cheap as you might like.
