Make the most of your day with Vatican City luggage storage

By far the most sacred place for the Catholic Church, Vatican City is where the pope has resided for centuries. Today, many of the most revered Catholic churches, landmarks, and museums draw hundreds of thousands of tourists to this sleepy corner of Rome. The Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica are all can't-miss destinations for Catholics, history buffs, and even art or architecture enthusiasts.

The marvelously opulent buildings that make up the Vatican City (its own country, technically speaking) are a delight to behold, and the religious cultural, and historical implications add significant weight to one's appreciation for the place.

While this all feels very serious, visiting the Vatican can be very fun. The iconic Swiss Guards offer some color as these ceremonial soldiers stand intrepid with their brightly striped attire and medieval weapons. You can also stretch your legs admiring the Vatican Gardens while getting some sun at St. Peter's Square, which is a great way to soak in the wonderful Italian weather.

If you want to explore Vatican City right after flying into Rome, Bounce has secure and convenient luggage storage facilities that can free you up for a day of sightseeing.

Getting to Vatican City

Depending on where you're staying in Rome, you'll have ample public transportation options for reaching the Vatican. It's strongly recommended that you either take a taxi or cab instead of renting a car as parking is incredibly difficult to come by. It takes about 35 minutes from the city center to reach the Vatican by car.

Getting to Vatican City from the airport

While Rome has a very extensive public transportation network, the most convenient way to reach the Vatican directly from Fiumicino Airport is by arranging transportation with a shuttle service. These are dedicated services that run directly from the arrivals terminal to Piazza Pia outside the Vatican gates in under an hour. These cost less than $10 in some cases, despite the convenience. Of course, you can use bag storage for a few hours after arriving in the city so you can better explore the Vatican by booking through Bounce.

Vatican City train connections

Roma San Pietro is the primary train station for St. Peter's Square, which can be reached from Roma Termini (Rome's central station). Termini is accessible via the Leonardo Express Train from the airport in about 12 minutes. The train stop is about a ten-minute walk from the train station.

Taking the Rome Metro to Vatican City

The Vatican is directly served by the nearby Ottaviano Metro Station on Line A. This is only a five-minute walk from Saint Peter’s Square and connects you with the rest of Central Rome. This is by far the most common way to reach the Vatican from travel hotspots in the city center, so expect full subway cars during peak travel times.

Bus services to Vatican City

Depending on where you are, there are a number of bus routes that stop at the Vaticano bus depot near the Vatican’s gates. The 49, 40, and 64 run from Roma Termini to Piazza Pia or Terminal Gianicolo which are a ten-minute walk to St. Peter’s. Bus #49 stops directly in front of the Vatican Museums if that's where you want to start your day. There are other bus lines routed to the nearby area, but these come from residential areas and are more geared towards commuters.

It only takes a few minutes to book luggage storage with Bounce, and you’ll have plenty of useful features that will make it easy for you to drop the bags off and forget about them so you can focus on admiring majestic Vatican City. With reliable opening hours and a good location to suit all travelers, Bounce is the easy choice. Exploring elsewhere in Rome?
